The Housestaff Association is run by interns, residents, and fellows at Cook County Health who volunteer their time to represent their departments, support coworkers, raise workplace and education issues, and help enforce the HSA contract.
Your HSA representatives are here to help you understand your rights, connect you with the right resources, and bring member concerns to HSA leadership, labor-management meetings, GMEC, MCRC, and other hospital committees.

Your department representatives are one way to stay connected with the union, but you can always reach out to HSA directly.
What Should HSA Know?
Is something happening in your department that HSA should be aware of?
Use this form to tell us what’s going on. You can share concerns about scheduling, your program or PD, workplace culture, education, communication, your union representation, or anything else affecting residents and fellows in your department.
This is not a formal grievance or complaint form. It is simply a way to keep HSA informed, help us identify patterns across departments, and make sure members have a place to share what they are seeing and experiencing.
Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC)
Your Voice in Graduate Medical EducationGMEC oversees issues related to residency and fellowship education across Cook County Health. HSA members serve on GMEC so residents and fellows have a voice when decisions are made about their training.HSA’s GMEC representatives pay particular attention to issues involving:

Have an Issue GMEC Should Know About?
Residents and fellows can submit concerns, questions, or suggestions for HSA’s GMEC representatives to raise or monitor.
You do not need to know whether something is officially a “GMEC issue.” If it affects your residency or fellowship education, let us know.
